Municipal Election Nomination Day

Last updated August 10, 2022

August 19, 2022 is the last day to file or withdraw from nomination papers for the 2022 Municipal Election. Municipal Election Day is October 24, 2022.

School board trustees are elected by ratepayers for a four-year term (in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act) and empowered under the Education Act to set policy for the operation of all public schools in York Region. The trustees of York Region District School Board are responsible for overseeing an educational system, which serves over 126,000 students in more than 200 schools.

Trustees play an important role in our school system. They serve as a voice for their community at the Board table and support families in navigating our school system. They make decisions about policy and budgets that affect the operations of our schools and board. And they are advocates for quality public education.
