In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, York Region District School Board will be “Celebrating the Spectrum” and hosting a flag raising ceremony on March 31, 2023. YRDSB works closely with community partners to build stronger, more inclusive communities for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Autism exists on a spectrum, which means that while all people on the spectrum will experience some of the differences mentioned above, the degree to which each autistic person experiences them and the amount of support they need, will vary.
Approximately 1 - 2% of the Canadian population is on the autism spectrum which means there are approximately 135,000 autistic people in Ontario.
York Region District School Board is the third largest school district in Ontario with over 126,000 students in 180 elementary schools and 33 secondary schools.
