Emily Carr S.S. Students Work With Contemporary Artist to Develop Virtual Exhibition

Woodbridge, On. - Students at Emily Carr S.S. worked with prominent contemporary artist Rajni Perera at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection to develop a virtual art exhibit focused on current issues.

Students visited Perera’s Futures exhibition at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and worked with her in the studio to design solutions to environmental issues that could create a better future. The students’ artwork is featured in a virtual exhibition on the McMichael Canadian Art Collection website.

“Visual Arts staff and students at Emily Carr Secondary have had the pleasure to participate in the McMichael Canadian Art Collection's development of three signature studio programs over the years,” said Serafina Farrugia, Subject Head of Visual Arts, Emily Carr S.S. “Emily Carr Secondary School is truly fortunate to work so closely with the staff at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and participate in such enriching experiential learning opportunities for all our students.”

This opportunity was part of the development of the McMichael's Envisioning Environmental Futures Signature Studio. Throughout the studio experience, Perera shared her techniques, artistic process and use of mixed media materials with the students.
