Richmond Hill, ON – Two students from Richmond Hill H.S. will be travelling to Arizona next week to represent Canada at an international science fair.

Kamron Zaidi and Sabrina Zaidi are two of the eight high school students selected to be part of Team Canada at the 2019 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair from May 12-18 in Phoenix, Arizona. They will be sharing their project: The Effect of Surface Tension on Plant Growth in Fogponics, for which they received several awards at the 2018 Canada-Wide Science Fair.

“I’m really excited to meet all the people who will be attending the fair with us. Everyone will have such amazing and creative projects, and it will be interesting to see what students from across the world have come up with. I’m sure we will make lots of new friends, and have a great time visiting all the different projects and exhibits set up,” said Kamron Zaidi, Grade 12 student, Richmond Hill H.S.

“It’ll be amazing to be able to showcase our project on an international platform to educate the world about the importance of freshwater conservation. We have potential to make a large impact, so I’m especially excited to receive feedback from the judges to see where we can improve the project for future applications in the real world,” said Sabrina Zaidi, Grade 12 student, Richmond Hill H.S.

“We are so proud of Kamron and Sabrina. They have such a passion for science. It’s really exciting to see where this has taken them – participating in York Region, national and now international science fairs. Their dedication, ability to think critically and apply their learning is inspiring, and we wish them all the very best,” said Principal Debbie Linkewich.
