CUPE staff play a critical role in supporting students and schools and we cannot safely operate schools for students with a full withdrawal of service from CUPE members.
We encourage families to monitor the Board’s website, twitter feed and local media. As we have said in our communications, if circumstances change, we will communicate to parents. Should CUPE cancel their strike action, our aim will be to return to normal operations as soon as possible.

No. Schools will be closed to students on November 21, 2022. Any extra-curricular activities will not be running.
Independent childcare programs are expected to continue on November 21, however will close by 4:30pm. Please confirm with your provider.
Before and after programs will not operate during the strike action on November 21.
Should the strike proceed, community-based permit activities will not operate on November 21.
Other staff members will continue with their regularly scheduled work day.

The strike is a result of the bargaining process at the provincial level, and Board employees are following the direction of their provincial federations/unions. At the local Board level, we continue to bargain with all our employee groups, including CUPE.
