April 3, 2024 – At the April 2 Board Meeting, trustees of the York Region District School Board met to determine a process to fill the trustee vacancy in Richmond Hill, Wards 1, 2 and 4 following the resignation of Crystal Yu. The Board will fill the vacant trustee position through a by-election.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank Crystal for her contributions to public education in York Region,” said Chair of the Board Ron Lynn. “Trustees carefully considered the options and determined that holding a by-election would provide the residents of Richmond Hill with a fair process to democratically select their representative.”
Trustees directed staff members to communicate with the Clerk’s Department at the City of Richmond Hill to initiate a by-election. More information, including timelines and polling locations, will be made available through the City of Richmond Hill. The Board website will be updated as information becomes available.
