Winter Break Message

Last updated on

As we approach the winter break, we hope that you’ve seen evidence of your child’s learning and growth this year, and continue to build strong partnerships with your child’s educators and school.

Looking back on 2025, we are proud of all that our students have achieved. They continue to perform above provincial standards in reading, writing and math. Our community - students, staff, families and partners - continue to give us countless reasons to celebrate success in academics, the Arts, sports, science and technology, and community contributions. We are equally proud of the culture of care we see in our schools and departments,  this holiday season is no exception with so many examples of school communities coming together to make a difference for others.

Student School Transportation Pilot

This week, you received an email letting you know that starting January 5, we are introducing a student school transportation pilot. This means the board will be divided into two areas and school transportation (bus and taxi) may be canceled in all or part of the region. We encourage families to review this information and to confirm their bus stop and service area.

With winter weather already upon us, please remember that information about our severe weather procedures can be found on the Board website, as well as tips to stay safe and warm during the winter months.

Winter Break

Schools will be closed for the winter break from December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026, returning January 5, 2026.

Elementary Schools Professional Activity (PA) Day - January 16, 2026

For your information, here is information about learning that school staff will be participating in on the upcoming elementary Professional Activity (PA) Day on January 16, 2026. As usual, students do not attend school on PA Days.

Happy Holidays

There are many holiday celebrations that occur at this time of year and we wish you and your families a joyful season and a safe and restful winter break. We look forward to welcoming students back on January 5, 2026.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
