York Region District School Board (YRDSB) is pleased to announce the receipt of a $100,000 donation from the Khan family to the newly established YRDSB Student Foundation in support of Tanya Khan Public School in Kleinburg.
“It is a great honour for our family to make this $100,000 commitment to Tanya Khan Public School in loving memory of my late wife, Tanya Khan,” said Asif Khan. “It is our family’s hope that this contribution will enrich the learning experiences of students for years to come, nurturing their curiosity, creativity and confidence as they prepare to become the leaders of tomorrow. We can think of no more fitting tribute to Tanya’s memory than investing in the potential of future generations.”
The YRDSB Student Foundation aims to help YRDSB students achieve success by directing funding and donations to essential resources that can make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
“We are truly grateful to the Khan family for their donation. This generous gift honours Tanya Khan while investing in students, schools and public education in York Region,” said Bill Cober, YRDSB CEO. “By helping remove barriers and expand opportunities, it will support student achievement and well-being.”
Donations to YRDSB Student Foundation go towards enhancing learning environments; funding scholarships and awards; supporting participation in extracurricular activities and field trips; and providing families with resources that contribute to student success at school and at home. Funds are directed toward programs and supports that improve student well-being, engagement and achievement.
