What:
To celebrate Family Literacy Day, the five Parenting and Family Literacy Centres(PFLCs) of the York Region District School Board are inviting families to enjoy“15 Minutes of Fun in the Fresh Air” by participating in an outdoor StoryWalk®. Participants will make snacks, create art and have a chance to read, walk and act out the popular children’s book, The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats.
No cost or registration required. Please come dressed to be outside for at least 15 minutes.

Why:
Family Literacy Day is a national awareness initiative held on January27 each year to promote the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Family Literacy Day was created in1999 by ABC Canada Literacy Foundation, now known as ABC Life Literacy Canada. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
