#yeswewill Change the Culture of Cyberbullying

What:

A partnership to reveal a region-wide campaign against cyberbullying including:

  • Speeches from student trustees, and York Region District School Board, York Regional Police and York Catholic District School Board officials.
  • An engaging video depicting the need for change and the power of youth as drivers of change.
  • A live Twitter feed for students to tweet their support for cyberbully-free communities.
  • A t-shirt and postcard for each participating student.
  • The launch of our #yeswewill hashtag.

When:

Monday, September 29, 2014
11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Where:

Aurora High School Gymnasium

Why:

This launch signals the first in a series of events aimed at:

  • Raising awareness about cyberbullying.
  • Decreasing the number of incidents in our schools and communities.
  • Building healthy, safe and inclusive cultures and communities.
  • Strengthening partnerships that empower all members to change the culture of cyberbullying.

Who:

In attendance will be:

  • Over 300 York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board students.
  • Student trustees from both boards.
  • Representatives from York Regional Police, York Catholic District School Board and York Region District School Board.
  • Trustees.
  • Community members.
