Special Needs Class Makes History at Ontario Sears Drama Festival

​What:

The Special Needs class of Bur Oak Secondary School in Markham will make history on March 3, 2015, when they compete in the Ontario Sears Drama Festival. Their unique show titled “Shoes” features youth who are living with challenges such as autism, developmental delays, and Downs Syndrome. In visually innovative ways, the show explores the hopes and dreams of these young people.

When:

Dress rehearsal – February 27, 2015 at 9:45 a.m.
Show – Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

Why:

This presentation marks the first time in the 69-year history of the Sears Drama Festival that a special needs class has participated in the program.

Who:

Staff, students, parents and community members are welcome to attend. Directed by Cameron Ferguson, this creative effort is the product of a partnership between the drama program at Bur Oak Secondary School, Motus O Dance Theatre and filmographer Jeffrey Young. Assistant Directors: Louise Marchione and Nisa Semab. Performers: Neel Desai, Torben Edgington, Lucy Guest, Tavish Kumar, Evelyn Lee, Varun Mathur, Aaisha Mughal, Chloe Ng, Abby Pearce, Emily Quach and Tavleen Sandhu.
