Students Pitch Innovative Ideas at Entrepreneurship Showcase

York Region District School Board's first entrepreneurship showcase gave students an opportunity to pitch their ideas, learn from local entrepreneurs and network with peers and community partners.

The showcase, held at HELIX Seneca, was part of the Entrepreneurship Education Learning Grant program that provides students with opportunities to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and the skills needed to start a business or social enterprise.

At the showcase, students in grades 7-12 had an opportunity to share their entrepreneurial ideas through elevator pitches and booths, connect with peers and learn from local entrepreneurs and community partners.

"It gives you a sense of what people do in the field, especially with the people that we've seen today. It really opened me up to the fact that you don't have to just think of yourself being successful on just one project, just work your way through and figure out what you like," said Ajushan, Grade 11 student.

All YRDSB secondary schools offer students opportunities to explore learning in the fields that interest them. Learn more about opportunities to explore interests, build transferable skills and gain experience in a variety of sectors at www.yrdsb.ca/experience-yrdsb.
