Three YRDSB Finalists in Doodle 4 Google Contest

Aurora, ON –Three York Region District School Board students have been selected as finalists in the national Doodle 4 Google contest.

Doodle 4 Google encourages Canadian students to use their creativity to design and submit their own interpretation of the Google logo with the theme, ‘What I See for Canada’s Future is…’ Finalists were chosen by Google and the public will choose the winner through an online vote.

Students across the York public board were encouraged to take part in the Canada 150 themed contest and three finalists were selected from our Board in three out of the four age categories.

The three York Region District School Board finalists are:

“We are incredibly proud of Leo, Flora and Carol’s artistic talents,” said Loralea Carruthers, Chair of the Board. “I encourage all of our students, families, staff and community members to show their support for our finalists by voting online.”

“It is an outstanding achievement to be selected from thousands of entries across Canada,” said Kathryn Wallace, Interim Director of Education. “This is a very proud moment for Leo, Flora, Carol, their families and their schools. I would like to extend my best wishes to them as they move forward in the final vote.”

Voting for the contest will be open until June 2, 2017. The winners of each category will win a technology grant for their school. The national winner will be featured on google.ca and will also receive a university scholarship.
