York Region District School Board and ETFO-YR Occasional Teachers Ratify Agreement

​Aurora, ON – On March 5, 2024, York Region District School Board (YRDSB) ratified a new four-year collective agreement with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario Occasional Teachers, York Region (ETFO-OT, YR).  ETFO-OT, YR represents approximately 2,500 elementary occasional teachers in the YRDSB.  ETFO-OT, YR Members have previously ratified the agreement through a membership vote.

“We highly value the efforts and contributions of our Occasional Teachers and we are pleased to have reached a deal that will allow them to continue supporting student success and well-being,” said Board Chair Ron Lynn. “I would like to thank our Board staff and ETFO-YR-OT for their leadership in ratifying this agreement.” 

“Our teachers are passionate about providing their students with the best classroom experiences, and this deal will allow them to continue doing so,” said Nadia Ciacci, President of ETFO-YR-OT. “We are pleased to have ratified an agreement that will benefit students, staff and families.” 

The agreements between the YRDSB and ETFO-YR OT include items bargained locally. As part of the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act, the local agreement will be combined with the centrally bargained terms of the provincial agreement.
