Aurora, ON – On Wednesday, February 15, 2017 the York Region District School Board ratified a collective agreement with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) - District 16 Professional Student Services Personnel (PSSP).
The PSSP employee group consists of Psychologists, Psychological Associates, Psycho-Educational Consultants, Speech Language Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, School Social Workers, Work Experience Coordinators and Community Resource Facilitators.
Highlights of the agreement include:
- A seven month term ending August 31, 2017 that aligns with other collective agreements in the Board.
- Salary grids subject to the same percentage increases provided to other unionized staff.
- Improved service to students through increased hours of service for Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
“Our Professional Student Services Personnel provide critical services to students across our Board,” said Board Chair Loralea Carruthers. “With this agreement in place, our students will continue to receive the support they need to ensure their well-being and success.”
“Our members are highly skilled professionals who provide specialized support to students in the York Region District School Board,” said OSSTF District 16 PSSP President Richard Langhorne. “This agreement will provide improved service to students while supporting student achievement.”
York Region District School Board is the third largest school district in Ontario with over 123,000 students in 176 elementary schools and 32 secondary schools.
