Youth to Help Develop Ideas to Protect Local Bird Populations

Students will work with a team of experts to develop innovative ideas to reduce threats to urban bird populations. To inform their ideas, students will learn more about local birds and the threats they face, as well as Indigenous perspectives from experts from Bird Studies Canada, Cambium Aboriginal, Flap Canada, Toronto Ornithological Club and Toronto Wildlife Centre. The event will give students an opportunity to collaborate, problem solve and apply learning while connecting with nature.

9:45 -11:00 a.m. - Students will be learning from community partners about local bird populations.

1:45-2:45 p.m. - Students will be presenting their ideas and solutions to community teams.

Secondary students enrolled in Specialist High Skills Majors, and representatives from Bird Studies Canada, Cambium Aboriginal, Flap Canada, Toronto Ornithological Club and Toronto Wildlife Centre and York Region District School Board.
