Aurora, ON – Beginning August 31, 2015, York Region District School Board elementary school Principals and Vice-Principals will provide a mark summary for those parents and guardians who wish to receive it.

As of August 31, parents/guardians may visit their child’s school to receive a summary of the marks submitted by teachers at the end of this school year. There will be no cost incurred to implement this solution to provide marks. Non-unionized central staff will input marks provided by teachers over the summer months.

“Our teachers are professionals who have supported the achievement and well-being of our students throughout the year,” said J. Philip Parappally, Director of Education for York Region District School Board. “While they are bound by the ETFO provincial strike mandate to not complete report cards, we appreciate that mark information is important to parents.”

Parents/guardians will still receive the promotion/grade placement letter on June 22, 2015, which remains the official end of year record for students.

York Region District School Board is the third largest school district in Ontario with over 122,000 students in 174 elementary schools and 32 secondary schools. York Region students consistently perform above average in provincial testing and the Board is one of the top achievers in Ontario.
