YRDSB Receives Award at MACCA Recognition Event

Aurora, ON– On May 21, York Region District School Board (YRDSB) was honoured to be one of the organizations recognized by Markham African Caribbean Canadian Association (MACCA) for continued dedication and support.

The Donors Recognition Awards Brunch also celebrated the 30th anniversary of MACCA, who provide a number of programs in York Region and the GTA, with many programs focused on achieving goals in education.

“I would like to congratulate MACCA on their 30th anniversary and thank them for all of the work they do for our students and families, and for our region,” said Loralea Carruthers, York Region District School Board Chair. “It is an incredible honour to be recognized for the strong relationships we have with outstanding community organizations like MACCA.”

“York Region District School Board is proud to accept MACCA’s award and thankful for this kind recognition,” said Kathi Wallace, Interim Director for YRDSB. “MACCA has done exceptional work in York Region and beyond. We share our best wishes on their 30th anniversary and look forward to our continued relationship.”

The Donors Recognition Awards Brunch was held at the Thornhill Community Centre and brought together representatives from YRDSB and other organizations who support MACCA in making a difference in the lives of children and youth in York Region.
