YRDSB Students Take Top Spots at DECA International Career Development Conference

Aurora, ON – From April 25- May 2, 2019, 27 students from the Bayview SS DECA chapter competed against more than 18,000 students from around the world in a variety of business events at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida.

Competing in events in the career clusters of marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism, four Bayview SS students placed in the top three in the world.

Andy Zhu – 1st Place – Buying & Merchandising Operations Research (BMOR)

Bonnie Lu – 1st Place – Virtual Business Challenge (VBC) Fashion

Anish Agnihotri – 2nd Place – Entrepreneurship Series (ENT)

Grace Li – 2nd Place – Business Finance Series

“We’re all very excited that our Bayview Bengals represented themselves so well at this international DECA competition,” said Bradley Clayden, Vice Principal of Bayview SS. “Well done to all who participated – we’re all very proud of you. Thank you to teachers, led by David Vallier, for supporting our students and helping them to excel.”

“We had such an amazing time in Orlando,” said one of the Bayview SS student competitors. “The venue and competition was so much fun. We’re so happy we all did so well!”

DECA Inc. is a not-for-profit student organization that prepares youth to respond to authentic business cases and market demands through conferences and competitions. DECA international is comprised of more than 215,000 members in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain.
