District Action Plan

As a school board, our priorities are set out in the Board of Trustees’ Multi-Year Strategic Plan. To achieve those priorities, the District Action Plan sets out goals that align with the strategic plan and our Board’s Mission, Vision and Values.

Student Achievement. We promote and support high expectations for all.

Strategic Objectives
  • Provide high quality instruction for all learners.
  • Support sustainable professional development and meaningful learning for staff.
  • Integrate foundational skills across subject areas in ways that honour all pathways.
  • Centre students as co-leaders of their growth and development.
System Actions

Deliver Responsive Instruction and Assessment – Provide evidence-based stratgies and resources that are differentiated to meet student strengths, needs, interests, and lived experiences.


Enhance Professional Development – Provide ongoing learning for school and system staff to deepen understanding of responsive, inclusive and differentiated practices to support students.


Prioritize Achievement in Literacy and Mathematics – Set expectations for high levels of achievement for students, especially marginalized students as identified by YRDSB data, to ensure supported transitions into their chosen programs and pathways.


Engage Students and Families as Partners – Work with students and families to understand their goals and preferences, creating inclusive, identity-affirming learning opportunities.

 


Health and Well-BeingHealth and Well-Being. We build healthy environments and positive relationships.

Foster a Culture of Care – Value lived experiences, centre identity-affirming mental health practices and create conditions where students feel they matter and belong.


Promote Mental and Physical Well-Being – Create opportunities for students and staff to engage in relevant and evidence-based practices that promote mental and physical health in all learning and working environments.


Support Personalized and Engaging Learning – Enhance student engagement and learning outcomes through environments that reflect students’ interests and needs, allowing for personalization and ownership of their learning.

Cultivate Inclusive Leadership and Accessible Environments – Prepare leaders to remove barriers, and address bias and conflict by creating
environments, developing spaces and utilizing resources, so that students, staff and communities feel valued and respected.


Strengthen Relationships with Indigenous Communities – Collaborate to develop and create inclusive environments while implementing practices that respect and reflect Indigenous rights and perspectives.


Develop Fair and Inclusive Practices – Uphold human rights, allocate resources responsibly, and foster diverse and inclusive learning and employment opportunities.


Enhance Community and Family Connections – Build and foster relationships and partnerships with community groups, and support the engagement of families to celebrate and affirm diverse identities.
