Environment Canada has issued an air quality statement for the Greater Toronto area advising that high levels of air pollution are possible due to smoke from forest fires in Quebec and northeastern Ontario.
The health and safety of our students and staff is our priority. We want to assure families that we will continue to monitor the situation and the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) for the region, and are prepared to take any precautions or measures needed.
As a result of the forecast (AQHI), beginning tomorrow, schools will have indoor recesses. Any outdoor activities planned for tomorrow will be rescheduled or modified to be held indoors.
YRDSB is also optimizing air quality in schools through improved air filtration.
As always, we will continue to follow the advice of Environment Canada and York Region Public Health. As the situation evolves, we will continue to provide families with information.
