Please read this thank you message from ReiDefine Consultancy.
York Region District School Board will be partnering with ReiDefine Consultancy (4 Reids Inc.) to develop its Dismantling Hate and Oppression Framework (DHOF).
This work is in alignment with our Multi-year Strategic Plan and the Director’s Action plan with the goal of championing equity and inclusivity for all. This partnership aims to create a Dismantling Hate and Oppression Framework to address racism, hate and discrimination with specific focus on Islamophobia, anti-Asian racism, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc.
YRDSB is committed to addressing hate, racism and all forms of oppression in schools and work sites. This with the goal of creating inclusive, equitable, and identity-affirming learning and working spaces in York Region District School Board.
Our work to create the DHOF will be guided by our Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan’s commitment to championing Equity and Inclusivity, our Indigenous Education and Equity Strategy, our Equity Action Plan, our Leadership Development Strategy and our Dismantling Anti-Black Racism Strategy.
The Framework will create a shared understanding of anti-hate and anti-racism, and anti-oppression.
The ReiDefine Consultancy Team is led by Latoya Reid who is an experienced researcher, social justice advocate, masters trained Registered Social Worker, educator, and Practicing Psychotherapist. Ms. Reid is also a Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Black Racism Keynote Speaker and Consultant boasting over 15 years of experience in human service, community activism, grassroots program development and implementation, project coordination, and representational leadership.
Reid leads a team of consultants who have an aggregate of over 30 years of human services and community engagement experience, and are passionate about equity and equality. The team will be engaging the community to ensure that the voice of the community is heard and represented in this imperative and transformative work.
It is only with collaborative community engagement that it is possible to achieve and accelerate progress towards the goals of equity and inclusivity across York Region District School Board.
To that end, we recently received a third party report on Anti-Asian racism that was developed through consultation with the Asian community of York Region that will be used to help develop the framework.
The ReiDefine Team will be hosting and engaging with educators, community leaders, employee affinity groups, parent, and community partners to garner feedback and experiences to inform the framework and implementation plan. Details about the project can also be found on ReiDefine’s website.
