Aurora, ON – At the January 10 Board Meeting, trustees of the York Region District School Board accepted the resignation of Anna DeBartolo as trustee for Vaughan Wards 1 and 2. The Board will fill the vacant trustee position through a by-election.

Anna DeBartolo, who served the Board for 15 years, resigned for personal reasons and is requesting privacy at this time.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we want to thank Anna for her years of service to public education,” said Chair of the Board Corrie McBain. “Trustees carefully considered the options and determined that holding a by-election would provide the residents of Vaughan with a fair process to democratically select their representative.”

Trustees directed staff members to communicate with the Clerk’s Department at the City of Vaughan to initiate a by-election. More information, including timelines and polling locations, will be made available through the City of Vaughan. The Board website will be updated as information becomes available.
