Grizzly Café at Glad Park PS Builds Skills and Confidence One Order at a Time

The Grizzly Café,  a student-run initiative at Glad Park PS, brings students, staff and community members together over cookies and warm drinks.

Launched by community class teacher Amanda Tetro, this weekly cafe teaches students valuable skills through roles like taking orders, running a loyalty program, greeting customers and collecting feedback, while building confidence, inclusion and joy. Students gain hands-on experience in customer service and communication and develop job readiness skills.

“It has changed what inclusion looks like at Glad Park P.S.,” says Trish Dynes, Principal, Glad Park P.S.

“Café makes me feel happy,” says Milan, Grade 5 student.

This café is building confidence, relationships, and life skills, one order at a time.
