An Indigenous Education Liaison and teacher at Nokiidaa PS and her teaching partner share their collaborative journey in Indigenous education and reconciliation.
Teachers Catherine Liaghati and Billie Pappas discuss their participation in pilot projects, including studying Wayi Wah! by Jo Chrona, and how these experiences have deepened their understanding of anti-racism education and Indigenous perspectives. They highlight the importance of teaching students about the land they live on, treaties and fostering respect for the environment to build meaningful connections. They aim to build capacity among staff, students, and administration at Nokiidaa PS.
