Indigenous Student and Family Virtual Wellness Event

Self-identified Indigenous students and their families (Indigenous or non-Indigenous) are invited to attend a virtual workshop focused on wellness.

The event will be hosted by Noojimo Health, YRDSB’s newest Collaborative Relationships with External Services (CRES) partner, along with Hailey Bravo, YRDSB Community Care Social Worker supporting Indigenous students and families.

This workshop will help participants learn how to improve their wellness towards the good life. It will include an introduction to:

  • wholistic wellbeing
  • Indigenous mental wellness concepts, frameworks and teachings towards Mino Bimaadiziwin
  • colonization, the social determinants of health for Indigenous people and their impacts 
  • sharing circles to begin learning about and discussing the unique challenges that Indigenous youth and their families face
