Ontario Public School Boards’ Association - Board of Directors / Vaughan Wards 2 and 3

Hello and welcome!

My name is Dr. Elizabeth Sinclair. It is my honour to serve you as York Region District School Board Trustee for Vaughan Wards 2 and 3.

A transformational and value-driven educator Dr. Sinclair says her mission is “to ensure that every student is motivated, and has the opportunity to maximize his or her potential as a learner and as a contributing member of our society.”

Her extensive academic qualifications include: A Doctorate in Education, Master of Education, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, Ontario Supervisory Officer Certificate, plus qualification in ADR Mediation, just to name a few.

With a career encompassing more than three decades, in three different public school boards in Ontario, Dr. Elizabeth Sinclair has established herself as a dedicated educational leader, and public speaker. Her experience ranges from teaching Kindergarten to teaching English as a Second Language to Adults, and teaching additional qualifications to teachers. Dr. Sinclair has also served North York, and the Toronto District School board as a classroom teacher, an instructional curriculum leader, Vice Principal, Principal and Superintendent of Education for the Peel District School Board. In those roles, Dr. Sinclair was a champion for excellence and a social justice advocate.

Dr. Sinclair is a long-time resident of Vaughan, first living in Concord and then Maple. She has been a dedicated and committed educator as well as a strong community supporter of students’ parents’ and seniors’ programs. Dr. Sinclair has held positions on several executive teams and committees where vital decisions were made, and her voice made a difference, most recently she was elected to the York Region District School Board as a Trustee for Vaughan wards 3 and 4.

The role of a trustee comes with many important responsibilities. As a trustee, it is my role to communicate with members of the public and advocate for quality public education. The Board of Trustees is also responsible for making decisions about policies, budget and setting priorities for the Board through the Multi-Year Strategic Plan. I also serve on a number of Board committees.
