Celebrating Black Excellence: Winston Salandy

Meet Winston Salandy, an Educational Assistant at Newmarket High School.

Winston works in the autism classroom at Newmarket H.S. and is also a coach, and an active member of the Equity Team and the Teacher Designate for the CARE (Caribbean, African, Respect & Equity) Club. Winston works very hard for both his students and other students in the school. He is known as an advocate, and helps students learn how to advocate for themselves.

"He genuinely cares about each of his students, he's able to connect with each student on an individual and a personal level. He really is trying to push everyone to be the best that they can,  as individuals and also education-wise. He really wants us all to succeed," says Eden, Grade 12 student at Newmarket H.S.
