Students, staff and families joined Chef Maxine Knight last month for a family cookout event in celebration of Black History Month.
The evening featured storytelling, arts, games, a recipe demonstration and a “street-food festival” that let families move around the room and try recipes from different parts of the world.
“It’s so good to be here as we celebrate Black History Month,” said Chef Maxine Knight. “We know that every month is Black History Month, and what I love is when we look around and see so many different faces from different cultures. That’s one of my happy places, is just being able to meet different people and share, and food is the best way for us go go ahead and do that.”
