Course Description:
In this introductory photography course, students will explore the principles and techniques of digital photography with a focus on photography as an art form. Students will develop their understanding of design principles and apply them creatively throughout the photographic process. Through hands-on activities, students will explore a wide range of subject matter, building both technical and artistic skills. Additionally, students will analyze and critique photographic works, studying the history and cultural impact of photography from both a global and Canadian perspective. To succeed in this course, it is essential to have access to a cell phone or DSLR camera, as well as reliable internet and a laptop, Chromebook, or computer for editing and research purposes.

Required Software/Equipment:
At a minimum, students should have access to:
- Current cell phone with access to a camera or DSLR
- Internet connection
- Media player (to view streaming video) generally a free download, if not already included with Internet Explorer;
- Word processing and presentation software such as Google Slides, Microsoft PowerPoint, Canva etc.
- Free online editing programs will be discussed in the course
