Students at Unionville H.S. Recognized for Development of Innovative Agricultural Tech Company

At Unionville High School, a group of enterprising students from Grades 9-12 have created their own innovative agricultural tech company, Agrowtech.

Prompted by Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow challenge and led by the school’s Assistant Head of Science Jeffrey Chan, the students sought to solve real world problems that affect people they know in their community. After extensive research, they decided to focus on the challenges currently affecting farmers in Ontario and beyond.

Agrowtech is a smart modular farming system that incorporates drone imagery, LIDAR, photogrammetry and AI, and presents its data in a convenient mobile app.

As the students of Agrowtech tell us: When farming thrives, we all thrive!

The students were recently recognized with an Applause award at a meeting of the Board of Trustees.
