Students, families and staff members at HG Bernard Public School came together for a student-led evening celebrating and promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM).
With help from staff and family volunteers, students from Grades 4-8 researched, prepared and presented topics of their choice related to STEAM.
Solar panels, unpoppable bubbles, bee bots, modular robotics, plant biology, math-based tic-tac-toe and the Electric Meow were just a few examples of the presentations and activities.
“I hope that when people leave this gym, they know the importance of STEAM. And especially any younger women, I hope they find some inspiration here and they want to pursue a career in STEAM,” says Lixi, Grade 8.
The school’s vice principal, Afrouz Sarmadi, thanked all of the volunteers. “I'm so incredibly grateful to have such a dedicated staff and amazing parents helping us to run STEAM night. Their effort is really much appreciated. Thank you.”
