York Region District School Board and Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation - District 16 Ratify Agreement

Aurora, ON– On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, the York Region District School Board ratified a three year collective agreement for its secondary teachers. Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’

Federation, District 16 (OSSTF D16) also ratified the agreement through a membership vote on

November 12, 2015.

“We value the strong and productive working relationships we have with all our employee groups, who

are at the foundation of student success,” said Board Chair Anna DeBartolo. “I applaud senior staff and

the negotiations teams; this agreement will ensure that we continue to improve student achievement and

well-being.”

“Our members are highly dedicated and skilled teachers who provide high quality instruction for all

students in secondary school,” said OSSTF D16 President Sandy Glassford. “This agreement represents

the best interests of staff and students.”

The agreement between the York Region District School Board and OSSTF D16 includes items

bargained locally. As part of the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act, the local agreement will be

combined with the centrally bargained terms of the provincial agreement.

York Region District School Board is the third largest school district in Ontario with over 122,000 students

in 174 elementary schools and 32 secondary schools. York Region students consistently perform above
