This competition will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate, through practical and theoretical application, their skills and task knowledge in the automotive industry. This will be done by challenging the competitors with several real life automotive repair situations in an effort to prepare students to enter the automotive service field.
Competitors will be judged on a variety of skills. These include: brakes, engine (mechanical), engine (computer systems/diagnostics), collegial professionalism, resume and interview skills. First, second and third place competitors will receive medals for their accomplishments.

Why:
Students will be given the opportunity to build on their existing knowledge of automotive repair, while promoting a healthy attitude and approach to challenges.
Who:
Up to 20 competitors from secondary schools across York Region District School Board will take part in the Regional Transportation Skills Challenge. The top competitor will represent YRDSB at Skills Ontario in the Automotive Service Technician Challenge and the second place competitor will represent YRDSB in the Outdoor Powered Equipment Challenge.
