Approved 2025-2026 School Year

The recommendations submitted for the 2025-2026 school year calendars as outlined below, have received formal approval from the Ministry of Education. 

1. The 2025-2026 school year for all elementary and secondary schools consist of 194 days and include the designation of 187 Instructional Days and seven Professional Activity Days.
2. The Elementary School Year Calendar for 2025-2026 designate:
   1. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 as the first day of school for students; and
   2. Thursday, June 25, 2026 as the last day of school for students.
3. The Regular Secondary School Year Calendar for 2025-2026 designate:
   1. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 as the first day of school for students; and
   2. Wednesday, June 24, 2026 as the last day of school for students.
4. The Early Start Secondary School Calendar for 2025-2026 (affecting Keswick High School, Maple High School, Markville Secondary School and Sutton District High School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2025-2026 with the following adjustments:
   1. Monday, August 25, 2025 as the first day of school for students;
   2. Monday, October 27, 2025 to Friday, October 31, 2025 as a one-week mid-term break; and
   3. Wednesday, June 24, 2026 as the last day of school for students..
5. That the Balanced Calendar for 2025-2026 (affecting Bill Crothers Secondary School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2025-2026 with the following adjustments:
   1. Monday, August 11, 2025 as the first day of school for students;
   2. Thursday, August 28, 2025, Friday, August 29, 2025, Friday, October 10, 2025, Monday, October 27, 2025 to Friday, October 31, 2025, Friday, December 5, 2025, Monday, December 8, 2025 and Monday, April 20, 2026 to Friday, April 24, 2026 as the breaks for Bill Crothers Secondary School; and
   3. Wednesday, June 24, 2026 as the last day of school for students.

2026-2027 School Year Calendars

The proposed 2026-2027 school year calendars were approved at the public Board Meeting on March 3, 2026. The calendars have been sent to the Ministry for review and approval.

Calendars are not official until they receive formal Ministry approval which is expected in late May 2026. Communication to the system will occur once final Ministry approval is received. Until that time, please do not finalize personal plans.

Important Note: In the 2026-2027 school year, there are two Professional Activity days prior to the Labour Day weekend for elementary schools and regular secondary schools. Wednesday, September 2 and Thursday, September 3 are Professional Activity Days. 

Recommendations

1. That the 2026-2027 school year for all elementary and secondary schools consist of 194 days and include the designation of 187 Instructional Days and seven Professional Activity Days.

   1. Tuesday, September 8, 2026 as the first day of school for students; and
   2. Tuesday, June 29, 2027 as the last day of school for students.
3. That the Regular Secondary School Year Calendar for 2026-2027 designate:
   1. Tuesday, September 8, 2026 as the first day of school for students; and
   2. Monday, June 28, 2027 as the last day of school for students.
4. That the Early Start Secondary School Calendar for 2026-2027 (affecting Keswick High School, Maple High School, Markville Secondary School and Sutton District High School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2026-2027 with the following adjustments:
   1. Monday, August 31, 2026 as the first day of school for students;
   2. Monday, October 26, 2026 to Friday, October 30, 2026 as a one-week mid-term break; and
   3. Monday, June 28, 2027 as the last day of school for students.
5. That the Balanced Calendar for 2026-2027 (affecting Bill Crothers Secondary School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2026-2027 with the following adjustments:
   1. Tuesday, August 18, 2026 as the first day of school for students;
   2. Friday, October 9, 2026, Monday, October 26, 2026 to Friday, October 30, 2026, Friday, December 4, 2026, Monday, December 7, 2026 and Monday, April 19, 2027 to Friday, April 23, 2027 as the breaks for Bill Crothers Secondary School; and
   3. Monday, June 28, 2027 as the last day of school for students.
6. That the school holidays for all elementary and secondary schools be recognized as follows:

7. That June 1, 2027 be dedicated to the observance of Ontario Day. That this day remain an instructional day and not be designated as a PA Day or an examination day, and no test required under the EQAO, or financial literacy assessment required to graduate secondary school be scheduled on this day.
