Approved 2024-2025 School Year

The recommendations submitted for the 2024-2025 School Year Calendars as outlined below, have received formal approval from the Ministry of Education as follows:

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. The 2024-2025 school year for all elementary and secondary schools consists of 194 days, including the designation of 187 Instructional Days and 7 Professional Activity Days.
2. The Elementary School Year Calendar for 2024-2025 designate:
   • Tuesday, September 3, 2024 as the first day of school for students, and
   • Thursday, June 26, 2025 as the last day of school for students.
3. The Regular Secondary School Year Calendar for 2024-2025 designate:
   • Tuesday, September 3, 2024 as the first day of school for students, and
   • Wednesday, June 25, 2025 as the last day of school for students.
4. The Early Start Secondary School Calendar for 2024-2025 (for Keswick High School, Maple High School, Markville Secondary School and Sutton District High School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2024-2025 with the following adjustments:
   • the first day of school for students will be Monday, August 26, 2024 and;
   • a one-week mid-term break will be scheduled from Monday, October 28, 2024 to Friday, November 1, 2024.
5. The Balanced Calendar for 2024-2025 (for Bill Crothers Secondary School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2024-2025 with the following adjustments:
   • the first day of school for students will be Monday, August 12, 2024 and;
   • Bill Crothers Secondary School Holidays will be scheduled on Thursday, August 29, 2024, Friday, August 30, 2024, Friday, October 11, 2024, Monday, October 28, 2024 to Friday, November 1, 2024, Friday, December 6, 2024, Monday, December 9, 2024 and Monday, April 7, 2025 to Friday, April 11, 2025.
6. The school holidays for all elementary and secondary schools be modified as follows:

2025-2026 School Year Calendars

The proposed 2025-2026 school year calendars were approved at the public Board Meeting on March 4, 2025. The calendars have been sent to the Ministry for review and approval.

Calendars are not official until they receive formal Ministry approval which is expected in late May 2025. Communication to the system will occur once final Ministry approval is received. Until that time, please do not finalize personal plans.

Recommendations

1. That the 2025-2026 school year for all elementary and secondary schools consist of 194 days and include the designation of 187 Instructional Days and seven Professional Activity Days.
2. That the Elementary School Year Calendar for 2025-2026 designate:
   1. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 as the first day of school for students; and
   2. Thursday, June 25, 2026 as the last day of school for students.
3. That the Regular Secondary School Year Calendar for 2025-2026 designate:
   1. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 as the first day of school for students; and
   2. Wednesday, June 24, 2026 as the last day of school for students.
4. That the Early Start Secondary School Calendar for 2025-2026 (affecting Keswick High School, Maple High School, Markville Secondary School and Sutton District High School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2025-2026 with the following adjustments:
   1. the first day of school for students will be Monday, August 25, 2025 instead of Tuesday, September 2, 2025; and
   2. a one-week mid-term break will be scheduled from Monday, October 27, 2025 to Friday, October 31, 2025.
5. That the Balanced Calendar for 2025-2026 (affecting Bill Crothers Secondary School) operate on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar for 2025-2026 with the following adjustments:
   1. the first day of school for students will be Monday, August 11, 2025 instead of Tuesday, September 2, 2025;
   2. Bill Crothers Secondary School Holidays will be scheduled on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Friday, August 29, 2025, Friday, October 10, 2025, Monday, October 27, 2025 to Friday, October 31, 2025, Friday, December 5, 2025, Monday, December 8, 2025 and Monday, April 20, 2026 to Friday, April 24, 2026; and
   3. the last day of school for students will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
