Silver Stream P.S. Students Take Centre Stage in School-Made Film: Super School of Rock

Students and staff at Silver Stream P.S. have produced their own movie: Super School of Rock, The Motion Picture.

The project was led by Grade 6 teacher Christian Scarlato, who co-wrote and directed the movie. The film features 86 students from various grades, showcasing their talents in script-writing, acting, directing, photography, editing, and more.

The process of making the film gave students the opportunity to take on leadership roles, take risks, work together and learn a variety of new skills.

“The ability to take risks, the ability to try new things, the ability to experiment and explore, fall on your face, dust yourself off and go again and not give up and spend this time creating  —there is so much power to that because it can be applied to anything in the real world,” said Christian Scarlato, teacher at Silver Stream P.S. and film director.

“The team is amazing. We have amazing tech crew, really talented actors.” – Sai, Grade 8 student

“It is a very collaborative process and the students have been very flexible,” said Kelly Pun, a teacher at Silver Stream P.S. and Assistant Director of the film. “They’ve shown a lot of leadership in terms of making the choices both on and off the set.”

The movie will debut at Silver Stream P.S. complete with a red carpet entrance and popcorn.
