York Region District School Board Appoints Dr. Steven Reid as New Associate Director

Aurora, ON – York Region District School Board has appointed Dr. Steven Reid as Associate Director, effective January 2, 2020.

 “Dr. Reid brings a wealth of knowledge and experience at the district and provincial level and we look forward to welcoming him back to York Region District School Board,” said Director of Education, Louise Sirisko. “We are proud to appoint a strong educational leader who shares our commitment to raising the achievement and well-being of underserved and underperforming students.”

The appointment follows a vacancy created as a result of the retirement of Associate Director Karen Friedman. Dr. Reid currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO), previously its Chief Assessment Officer. He has extensive experience working at the Ontario Ministry of Education and in leadership roles at York Region District School Board, Bluewater District School Board and Toronto District School Board.

 “I would like to welcome Dr. Steven Reid back to York Region District School Board,” said Board Chair, Juanita Nathan. “We have clear priorities set out as a school board and we look forward to continuing our work with staff and families to support students.”
