York Region District School Board Holds Electronic Board Meetings

Aurora, ON – This week, Board, Advisory and Committee meetings at York Region District School Board will resume electronically on a modified schedule to consider urgent matters.

Board and committee meetings were cancelled March 17 to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The next meeting of the Board will take place on April 7 at 7:30 p.m. Members of the public are welcome to call into any public meeting to listen to the discussion.  A list of committee meeting dates is posted on the Board website. Agendas will be posted the Friday prior to the meeting on the News and Events section of the Board website and will include connection instructions.

“We are all working and learning differently, and we are pleased to be able to resume the important work and decision making of the Board and our committees through electronic means,” said Juanita Nathan, Chair. “This will enable us to continue the work of the Board while remaining transparent and helping to do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.”

This action is a result of changes to Ontario Regulation 463/97, Electronic Meetings on March 18, 2020 and will remain in place for up to 60 calendar days after school closure orders have expired.

York Region District School Board is the third largest school district in Ontario with over 127,000 students in 180 elementary schools and 33 secondary schools. York Region students consistently perform above average in provincial testing and the Board is one of the top achievers in Ontario.
