Student Agenda Planners

Recently, in a small number of schools some families received student agenda planners from their school. These planners, ordered from a print vendor, are used to support students with organization and communicate with teachers. Over the weekend, we learned that some of the school agendas had a cover with cartoon depictions of students, which perpetuates stereotypes and stigmatizes children from racialized backgrounds. While we appreciate the intent of the cover was positive, we are grateful for the students who had the courage to come forward to resolve this matter.

We sta​nd in solidarity with the various Christian communities and all those affected in Sri Lanka and here in York Region. Our hearts are broken along with those affected in Sri Lanka and around the world.

This includes changes to class sizes, curriculum and Board budgets. We recognize that you may have questions about what these changes may mean for your children and your family. While we do not have all the answers, we do know that this will have an effect on our Board.

Tragic Event in Christchurch, New Zealand

We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn this morning of the attacks on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. There is no room for this type of hate and violence in our society. Our hearts are broken along with those affected in New Zealand and in the Muslim community around the world.
