York Region District School Board marks the beginning of a new year for people of Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Mongolian Ancestry and their Diaspora on February 16.

For many people from East Asia and South East Asia, the Lunar New Year is associated with Spring and is marked with large community festivities, family gatherings and feasts. For many followers of Buddhism, Confucianism and Daoism, the Lunar New Year also symbolizes renewal. To celebrate this special time in our communities, YRDSB schools will be hosting a variety of events.
