The York Region District School Board Operational By-Law outline rules, procedures and protocol governing

  • Board meetings,

  • the Committee system,

  • special situations such as,

  • delegations,

  • the Inaugural Board meeting,

  • conduct of elections, 

  • signing officers, and

  • the By-Law Amendment procedure, and

  • the accountability framework related to the Trustee Code of Conduct.

 

Trustee Conduct

Trustees are responsible for conducing themselves in accordance with the Trustee Code of Conduct at all formal and informal meetings, event and/or public gatherings in which they are carrying out their official responsibilities.  The Trustee Code of Conduct applies to all trustees of the Board as well as non-elected members of all Board, Advisory and Board Committees in relation to their official functions, powers and duties as members of such committee. 

 

Indigenous Education Advisory Council Terms of Reference

The Indigenous Education Advisory Council (IEAC) is a part of the formalized process to support the board's implementation of the First Nation, Métis and Inuit framework as stipulated by the Ministry of Education (Ontario First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education policy framework. 2007. p. 20).

IEAC is to guide the school board in developing strategies that: build stronger relationships with Indigenous communities; share information; identify promising practices for student well-being and achievement; and enhance collaborative work to support First Nation, Métis, and Inuit student achievement and well-being.

The IEAC Terms of Reference outline the role of the council, objectives, operations, meeting protocols, membership and resources available to support the council.
