York Region District School Board’s Parent Engagement Advisory Committee has invited parents from each school to the 6th Annual Regional Parent Symposium - “Parent Voice Matters!” for an evening of learning and sharing.
The symposium will provide parents with tools to support their children’s learning and well-being through a series of workshops that focus on successful strategies and approaches for improved parent engagement. Workshops are aligned with the Director’s Annual Plan and its goal to build trust and collaborative relationships with students, families and staff through respectful and responsive communication focused on shared solutions.
The symposium will be live streamed and available at www.yrdsb.ca for parents who are not registered. Parents can follow along and join the conversation on Twitter using #yrdsbparentvoice.

Why:
Recognizing the important role of parent voice in public education, the symposium aims to support, encourage and enhance parent engagement in order to improve student achievement and well-being.
Who:
Participants will include parents of students attending York Region District Board schools and school administrators. Parent and student volunteers have also been actively engaged in the planning and implementation of this event.
