Important Staffing Message from the Chair

Last updated on

I am writing to inform you that Director of Education Louise Sirisko will be retiring at the end of her contract in January 2023.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank Louise for her leadership and dedication to public education in York Region. Louise has worked tirelessly on behalf of staff members and families throughout her five-year tenure with our Board. She was appointed as Director with a mandate to improve community relationships and implement the priorities of the Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan. She has fulfilled this mandate by working in collaboration with the Board, the community and staff, and by taking the time to support and uplift those voices that helped move us forward. Recently the Board received an update on the ongoing efforts and progress made to enhance student success and, even through a global pandemic, we continue to have strong reasons to be proud of all the work staff do for students each and every day.

Attached please find a message from Director Sirisko. I know that over the coming months we will find other means to celebrate her contributions to public education and YRDSB.

The Board of Trustees takes its responsibility to recruit a Director of Education seriously and, in accordance with the Director of Education Selection Policy, will announce a process as appropriate.

Please join me in congratulating Louise and wishing her well in her upcoming retirement.
