commitment to hiring a candidate(s) reflective of the York Region communities we service
where applicable, candidates are screened for their ability to demonstrate that they possess the character and attitudes necessary for success within the York Region District School Board. This may include the personal leadership attributes contained in the Ontario Leadership Framework

Condition of Employment
Police Record Check (PRC)
In accordance with Ontario Regulation 521/01 – Collection of Personal Information (as amended by O. Reg. 298/25) under the Education Act, all prospective employees of the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) are required to provide a satisfactory Police Record Check (PRC) as a condition of employment. Candidates will be advised whether a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) is required based on the position.
Requirements
- The PRC must be obtained from the police service responsible for your current place of residence (Canadian jurisdictions only).
- The check must be issued within six (6) months of your scheduled start date and must be satisfactory to YRDSB.
- Candidates are responsible for securing and submitting their PRC when instructed during the hiring process.
Acceptable Existing Checks
YRDSB will accept a satisfactory PRC issued within the past six (6) months that names:
- Another Ontario school board, or
- An organization or employer requiring screening for work with vulnerable persons
Application Requirements and Conditions
Any false information provided by the successful candidate will result in future termination.
The York Region District School Board reserves the right to request applicants to provide additional information with regard to this application for employment.

To be considered for employment with the York Region District School Board, applicants must hold valid, unrestricted legal authorization to work in Canada. Specifically, candidates providing an Open Work Permit must ensure it is void of any conditions or restrictions that would prohibit employment within a public-school setting or engagement with children/vulnerable sectors.
