At the York Region District School Board, all of our internal/external job postings are posted through Apply to Education. In order to view internal job postings, you must be a York Region District School Board employee and have an employee ID number.  If you are a new employee to the York Region District School Board, additional information about how to apply to internal job postings will be provided on the Careers Page of the Board Wide Web (Internal Portal) once you have been provided login information. 

 

Health, Dental and Life Insurance


YRDSB benefits, including Health, Dental and Life Insurance are provided by the Employer Life and Health Trust (ELHT), administered by either OTIP or Cowan, depending the employee Group.

Long Term Disability


Long Term Disability (LTD) may assist you if you are unable to work due to an injury or illness with financial support and access to rehabilitation services and emotional support to help you get better.

  • Mandatory enrolment into the OTIP LTD plan
    • All Permanent employees as of the first day of employment.
    • No form is required.
    • OPC members follow a different process.
  • Not eligible to enrol into the OTIP LTD plan
    • All Temp/Term employees

 

OMERS Pension Plan


Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System

  • Defined benefit pension plan 
  • Designed to provide a lifetime retirement income
  • All permanent staff must be enrolled into OMERS.
  • Exceptions
    • Employees who have an Ontario College of Teachers certificate (OCT) 
      • regardless of role or status of OCT
      • immediate enrollment required into the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan
    • Reemployed OMERS pensioners

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan


  • Defined benefit pension plan 
  • Designed to provide a lifetime retirement income
  • If certified with the Ontario College of Teachers, an employee must be enrolled in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (TPP) regardless of position or status of membership.  
  • Provide OCT Number upon hire or as soon as it has been received or attained.
