Welcome back. We hope everyone had a safe and joyful holiday season and winter break.
January is a great time to look ahead. As a school board, our work is guided by the Trustees’ Multi-Year Strategic Plan and the District Action Plan, which focus on three key goals:
- Student Achievement
- Health and Well-Being
- Human Rights and Inclusive Education
We remain committed to supporting your child’s learning, growth and well-being in alignment with these priorities.
Upcoming Dates
There are several important dates approaching as we return from the break:
- Starting January 5, we are piloting the use of service areas for student school transportation zones for cancellations.
- Kindergarten and French Immersion registration open January 16.
- Student trustee elections give students in grades 5-12 an opportunity to vote for the students who will represent their voice at the board table.
- Secondary school students will begin preparing for exams and for course selection. We know this can be a stressful time and have resources and support available.
We encourage families to check the Board calendar and their school for upcoming events and important dates. These events help to strengthen engagement and community connections and many are designed to ensure students and families are aware of the opportunities available.
We also want to share that the board is reviewing the use of artificial intelligence tools and developing guidelines to help students use these tools effectively, safely and responsibly. We want to ensure we are preparing students to enter an evolving world and workforce - while doing so in a responsible and ethical way. More information will be shared with families soon.
As we begin this new year, we remain committed to working in partnership with families to support every student’s success. Thank you for your ongoing engagement and trust. We look forward to a year filled with learning, growth and opportunities for all students.
