Post March Break Message

Dear families,
The snow is finally melting after a very long winter and we are happy to see signs of spring and some days filled with sunshine.

This part of the year brings a lot of excitement and anticipation as we head into the season of spring concerts, various field trips and many different types of school celebrations and gatherings for our school communities.

In April, we look forward to celebrating World Autism Acceptance Day with raising the Autism Ontario flag. It’s one of our favourite events, bringing together many of our community partners, amazing staff and of course, our exceptional students.

We will also be hosting our Celebrating Student Success event, which recognizes 16 YRDSB students from across the region who personify excellence through leadership and service to their school and community, as well as four Human Rights Office Ambassador recipients who have helped advance the principles of human rights, equality, diversity, inclusion and/or anti-discrimination in their schools. You can watch a video of our 2024 Celebrating Student Success and Human Rights Ambassador recipients to see the amazing achievements and successes of our students.

YRDSB is inviting families, community members and staff to participate in the Board’s annual budget consultation process. You can fill out the online survey before April 18 or take part in a virtual consultation on Monday, April 7, 2025. More information on how to join the virtual consultation is available on the YRDSB website. We look forward to hearing from you.

While there’s so much to look forward to, we also want to acknowledge that this is a difficult time for many in our community, with both events taking place around the world, as well as those currently playing out in world politics that are having very real effects on many families. We want you to know that we are here to support you in any way that we can.

It is so important for all of us to work together and support each other through these challenges. We are incredibly proud of the work our students, staff, families and community have put forward in building a culture of care and it is this care, respect and kindness that makes all the difference during difficult times.

Thank you for your partnership in education. We look forward to a successful spring and are thrilled to have our classrooms filled with the enthusiasm and energy of our students and staff.
