The York Region District School Board provides adult learners a flexible approach to earning credits during the school year through Online Learning.
Online Learning courses are taught by YRDSB teachers using Ontario's Virtual Learning Environment-BrightSpace by D2L. Students are not required to log in at a specific time each day. Classes occur online using an asynchronous model, with synchronous learning opportunities offered with the teacher.
Access to a desktop or laptop computer with high-speed internet to do coursework is required.
Online Learning Night School is available to :
- Individuals who are 18 years of age or older, with Canadian status, and living in Ontario.
- Students who are not registered in a day school with another publicly funded school board. Applicants must have Canadian status, and live in Ontario.
FALL
- Registration Period: August 26, 2024 - October 2, 2024
- Course Dates: September 25, 2024 - January 20, 2025
WINTER
- Registration Period: December 2, 2024 - February 26, 2025
- Course Dates: February 19, 2025 - June 3, 2025
During the fall and winter sessions, students are required to work on their course for six to eight hours weekly and hand in work regularly. There is flexibility, students may log in at a convenient time for them.
Please review the Acceptable Use of Technology prior to applyling for a course.
Due to course work load and time constraints, it is highly recommended that adult students take no more than three (3) Online Learning Night School courses per session.
