EIAC Islamophobia Sub-Committee Community Conversations

From April 2018 – May 2018, the Board's Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Islamophobia Sub-Committee held four community conversations. The discussions focused on actions taken by YRDSB following the Ministry review to support the learning of Muslim students and their families.

The goal of these conversations was to foster meaningful conversations and to raise awareness of, and take action against Islamophobia in York Region.

The findings of these community conversations have been compiled into a report, which will be used to inform Board planning and ensure equitable practices for all.

EIAC Antisemitism Sub-Committee Community Conversations

In April 2018, the Board's Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Antisemitism Sub-Committee held three community conversations. The discussions focused on actions taken by YRDSB following the Ministry review to support the learning of Jewish students and their families.

The goal of these conversations was to foster meaningful conversations and to raise awareness of, and take action against Antisemitsm in York Region.

The findings of these community conversations have been compiled into a report, which will be used to inform Board planning and ensure equitable practices for all.​

 

EIAC Classism Sub​-Committee Community Conversations

From January 15, 2018 - February 12, 2018, the Board's Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Classism Sub-Committee held five community conversations. Youth, families and community members provided feedback regarding equity and inclusion for students in York Region public schools.

The goal of these conversations was to foster meaningful conversations and to raise awareness of, and take action against, classism in York Region.

The findings of these community conversations have been compiled into a report, which will be used to inform Board planning and ensure equitable practices for all.

 

EIAC Anti-Black Racism Sub-Committee Community Conversatio​​​ns

From January 18, 2018 - January 27, 2018, the Board's Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Anti-Black Racism Sub-Committee held two community conversations. The discussions focused on actions taken by YRDSB following the Ministry review to support the learning of students of African descent and their families.

The goal was to foster meaningful conversations and to hear from the community on what is going well, what concerns still exist, and to work with the community to determine next steps.

The findings of these community conversations have been compiled into a report, which will be used to inform Board planning and determine next steps to continue supporting the learning of students of African descent and their families.​​
