Thinking about it:
- What are all the different ways that I can make the same number?
- Is there only one way to make a square or are there more possibilities?
Cuisenaire Counting

Today I can: Compose and decompose numbers in a variety of ways.
Action:
I have some rods that are different colours and different lengths.
I can arrange white and red rods in many different ways to be the same length as a yellow rod.
Can you find all the ways of using red and white rods that are the same length as a yellow rod?
How will you know that you haven't missed any combinations?
Thinking about it:
How will you know that you haven't left any combinations out?
The dark green rod is longer than the yellow rod. Can you find all the ways of using red and white rods that are equivalent to a dark green rod? How will you know that you have found them all?
Bug Catcher Number Line Game

Today I can: practice my addition and subtraction facts
Action:
Catch the bugs by moving the frog along the number line. Count forwards or backwards on the number line between the frog and the bug. Select the equation with displays the correct operator and matches your count.
If you miss, not to worry the bug will fly away and come back to a new spot on the number line!
Thinking about it:
Do you prefer to count forward or backwards?
Are there any equations that are the same or equal?
Can you create some jumping frog questions for a friend to try?
Five Coins

Today I can: Identify coins and add money amounts
Action:
Ben has 5 coins in his pocket.
How much money might he have? How do you know?
Thinking about it:
Will everyone get the same answer? Why or why not?
Can you figure out another answer?
How many different answers do you think there could be? Why?
